Service Activities for Families: Fourth Grade

Your child will learn that all people are created in God's image and that we are called to look after each other.

These family activities will help your child see that there could be someone nearby who can use a little looking after.

1. September 15^th is Senior Citizen Day. To honor these seniors, help your child make cookies in the shape of leaves and pumpkins. Use fall colors and decorations to make them look festive. Deliver the cookies on September 15^th to your Senior Center, Assisted Living Centers, or to elderly people in your neighborhood.
2. During fall the weather can turn very cold quickly. Cold weather can be especially difficult for the elderly or the disabled. As a family, make a big pot of soup. Divide the soup into sealed plastic bowls and deliver to a senior citizen, a disabled person or to a single parent who does not have the time to make a home cooked meal. The soup will warm their bodies but your kindness will warm their hearts.
