The Liturgical Year: Advent
Advent is the season of hope, of light and of waiting. The word Advent means, " coming." The season of Advent celebrates the coming of salvation in the birth of Christ and, simultaneously calls us to rejoice in the anticipated fulfillment of God's reign of justice, love and peace. In modern times, the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child is so joyous it often overshadows the Church's prayer for what is yet to come, the anticipation of the fulfillment of God's reign. Advent brings the hopeful spirit of these two events together. The color for Advent is violet.
