On Good Soil
Overview
On Good Soil is a tool to help you do an even better job of planting, watering and growing the seed of faith in the lives of all those you touch. It is designed to help you renew the catechetical ministry of your parish or school. It has its origins in the General Directory for Catechesis, and its heart in the Sacred Scriptures.
- The Children
- Catechists
- Families
- Whole Parish
Each Conversation includes three parts:
- Getting ready to talk: Questions for Reflection
- Imaging the Future: Sharing Ideas and Action for the Future
After all four conversations have been held each participant fills out a copy of a personal mission statement.
Four Conversations
1. The Children
How can we as a parish community most effectively reach our children with the message of the Gospel so that they will meet Christ and offer him their lives?
2. Catechists
How can we as a parish community best form our catechists so that they clearly communicate the message of Christ and give personal witness to their faith?
3. Families
How can we as a parish community most effectively involve our families in their children's catechesis?
4. Whole Parish
How can we as a parish community develop the practice of providing catechesis to the total parish - children, youth and adults?
Personal Mission Statement
After all four Conversations have been held, the participants create a personal mission statement that expresses how they plan to improve catechetical ministry in response each of the four focus questions.
